it's time to get out on the trail

SANTA BARBARA'S NATURAL HISTORY
Over the years, I've now had five editions of my day hikes book published—a very nice feeling for me. The first edition which I self-published in 1975 (Day Hikes of the Santa Barbara Foothills) was only 48 pages in length and only covered the main front country trails.

Though the number of hikes included in subsequent editions has increased, sadly, due to space limitations set by cost-conscious publishers, the amount of background information has decreased and I've been forced to leave a lot out.

Included here are chapters from those previous editions as well as other information about Santa Barbara's natural and cultural history.
